I think we all can agree that HGTV can be super addictive. For me, I feel as if the reason I am drawn so much to the channel is because of the draw of the intangible. I watch all these shows about couples taking on “fixer uppers” and I am awe struck on how the Property Brothers or Chip and Joanna Gaines take homes that would normally be condemned and turn them into master pieces.
One of the reasons I think I have been watching HGTV religiously is because it has been added to Netflix! My favorite show is Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines. Chip and Joanna were both Baylor grads who stayed in Waco, Texas after graduation. Joanna opened a local boutique, Magnolia Market while Chip continued working in real estate by buying, renovating, and selling homes to the Baylor Market. The eventually merged into one company: Magnolia Homes. They are known for their distinct style and rustic chic look high amens them the most popular show on the channel.
I always find it funny that I am a 20 year old girl who is at least 10 years away from home but am so drawn into the design and know that I want an open floor plan with shiplap on my walls and concrete countertops. It’s almost comical sometimes!
