Bob’s Burgers

I have been watching a lot of Bob’s Burgers this summer and it has been really interesting to watch as this course goes on. I’ve been noticing issues that we have been discussing in the course. Bob’s is a modern working class sitcom. It reminds me of the Roseanne in some ways. Bob is a middle aged man with 3 kids and a wife. A constant conversation on the show is how he is unable to pay his rent to his landlord, Mr. Fishodor. It combines family sitcom with working class sitcom. The kids are always up to no good and Bob & Linda rarely discipline them. The show mostly focuses on the struggle of a working father but also touches on puberty and family ties like Roseanne does. The shows have the same underlying themes but portray them in completely different ways. One is a crude cartoon and the other is focused around a working mother, though both portray their message effectively. -Maddy Eldredge

I really should try to get into this show. I’ve tried a few times and just can’t, but it keeps turning up in conversations!
