Girls in the City

I love “Sex in the City” and have watched all the episodes. I think my favorite part about the show is that the discussions are so honest and about topics everyone in the targeted demographic talk about with their friends. As I rewatched these episodes for class I noticed a lot of similarities between this show and “Girls”. Both are produced by HBO and target a similar demographic. The main premise of the shows is a group of young adult women maneuvering big city life with a focus on relationships. The focus of the show is on dialog amongst the characters. I think “Girls” is HBO’s more modern take on “Sex in the City” but gives a less glamorous angle.

I agree with you. I have seen a couple episodes of Girls and I believe that Girls does a better job or portraying more realistic relationships between ordinary people. However, I find Sex and the City more enticing to watch!

I would be interested in hearing what distinctions you make between the shows and the significance you attach to the differences as well as the similarities.
